BAKERSWELL. Bakerswell. In the early 80s, Seán Potts, who used to play
whistle with The Chieftains, formed a group called Bakerswell, centred in
the Northside of Dublin. Their album has only now been released on CD for
the first time. It's nice to be reminded of the original, for the band
contained many musicians who are now among the leaders of Dublin's musical
community - John McEvoy, John Kelly and Kevin Glackin on fiddles, Mick Hand
on flute, Seán Óg Potts on uilleann pipes and Nóirín O'Donoghue on harp. And
it's good to see that twenty years later, the music still stands up.
